This Salado ruin overlooking Tonto Creek,

just downstream from the town of Gisela,

consists mainly of a giant circular wall

This crumbling pueblo atop Black Mt.,

east of the community of Rye, has about

a half-dozen or so easily recognizable

rooms (note the hat for size reference).

The Salado occupied the site in the 13th

century. Not the largest ruin in the world,

but the climb up Black Mt. is pleasant

and offers great views in all directions.
