Tsegi Canyon |

I did not include the Keet Seel cliff dwelling in Ruins Seldom Seen because hikers are not allowed to visit the place without a guide. That's not an inherently bad thing; it's just not in the spirit of my book. It's still a great hike, though, as you must trek 8.5 miles, on your own, through Tsegi Canyon to reach the ruin. Of course, let's not overlook the fact that Keet Seel is the largest cliff dwelling in Arizona and one of the best-preserved in the entire Southwest. If you don't mind having a ranger show you around when you get there, it's a great destination. |
