Statement on the Accuracy of
the Book Ruins Seldom Seen
This website does not provide information on the
exact locations of ruins. However, my book does.
If you bought or are considering buying my book,
please note that I wrote Ruins Seldom Seen in the mid-
to late 1990s, and it was actually published in
1999.
At that time, all of the information in the book was accurate. However, over
the years some
of the roads, trails and routes leading to the ruins have
changed. This is particularly true of the roads. Some have
gotten better, some have gotten worse, and some have even been blocked.
However, the information about the locations of the ruins themselves remains
accurate, right down to the latitude and longitude.
Because much has changed since the 1990s, in
some cases it may
be necessary to find your own alternate route to a ruin. This is not true of
most hikes, but it is true of some
hikes. But again, the lat/logs
of all ruins are still good. With
accurate information on the locations of ruins,
any hiker -- even
those with little experience -- can figure out their own routes. All it
takes is a good map, common sense and a little enthusiasm. In fact, to real hikers,
route-finding is half the fun.
Although I enjoyed writing Ruins Seldom Seen, I have no plans to
update it. I feel my time is better spent on
completely new projects, mainly nature photography. On that note, if you'd
like to see what I've been doing lately, please visit my other website at

Thank you.
