Hammond Canyon

The "Three Fingers Ruin" in Hammond Canyon on the Manti-La Sal National Forest was built by the Anasazi between A.D. 900 and 1200. Today, four of the original nine rooms remain remarkably preserved.

Although three of the four rooms in

this photograph look small enough

to be granaries, all of these ancient

chambers functioned as living quarters.

Note the hiker peering out the window

of the largest room.
