Hieroglyphic Canyon
Sometime between A.D. 900 and 1100, the Hohokam used Hieroglyphic Canyon in the Superstition Mts. as a base camp for hunting and gathering. They drew deer, bighorn sheep, people, abstractions and geometric patterns all over the rocks around a spring. Of course, they are actually petroglyphs, not hieroglyphics.
